10th Route

The capital of Cyprus is known for its unique history, mainly in old city, which is surrounded be the old Venetian Walls, built by the Venetians during the period they dominated the island in the early 16th century (1567) and were constructed to protect against the impending Ottoman siege. For the entrance through the Venetian Walls of Nicosia, 3 gates were built, the Paphos Gate, the Kyrenia Gate and the Famagusta Gate which was the largest and most imposing of the other two, and a magnificent monument for travelers to visit.

This route includes some of the Cypriot churches that were built to honor Holy Mary, the Mother of all orthodox people. The worship of Holy Mary in Cyprus does not only express the belief that the Mother of Jesus is the person who, more than any other, can bring believers closer to Jesus and God, as it also expresses the pain of thousands Cypriots, over the centuries, which came from the loss of their own people during wars and invasions, so they used to pray to Holy Mary to bring them peace and south their souls, as she has suffered the most.
